Est. 2017 — Muskoka, Ontario
How a love of cottage country became a movement
Where It All Began
Muskoka Republic was born from a simple, stubborn belief: that the people who love this land should have something worthy to wear.
It started the way most great things in Muskoka do — around a fire, on a dock, with good people and a strong conviction that cottage country deserved its own identity. Not a tourism slogan. Not a souvenir. Something real.
In 2017, we designed our first pieces — the Axe logo, the crest, the mark that would become our flag. Within weeks, friends were wearing them. Then strangers. Then people across the province were asking where they could get one. That's when we knew Muskoka Republic was more than just apparel.
It was a declaration. A community. A Republic.
The Journey
What Drives Us
Every stitch, every logo, every piece of wood we shape is an attempt to capture that feeling — the one you get when the highway ends and the lakes begin. We make things for people who understand that feeling without needing it explained.
— On PlaceOur motto isn't marketing — it's a worldview. The people of Muskoka are self-reliant, grounded, and proud. They built things with their hands and stood by what they made. That's the spirit we carry in everything that bears our name.
— On CharacterWe don't make throwaway fashion. We make gear you can wear on the dock in July and by the woodstove in January. Pieces that get better with age, that carry your story, that your kids might one day pull out of a box and ask about.
— On CraftWe've always been bigger than a brand. From the beginning, Muskoka Republic has been built by the community that wears it — locals, cottagers, expats who left a piece of their heart at the lake. You're not a customer. You're a citizen.
